Hey,
What are you growing this year? How do you preserve and/or cook it? We always grow more than we can eat, forcing us to bring boxes of produce to church - or - the dreaded drive-by, leaving vegetables on someones front porch, ringing the doorbell and running away. Why is it that we just can't stand to let something go to waste?

On preserving things: Our freezer got left open last week and I had a day to cook or preserve a whole bunch of meat. I ended up canning some stew meet, and though creepy in concept, so easy! And now come soup season, I don't have to thaw the meat, just open a jar. (Everything else got cooked and forced on family and friends).
I have a great recipe for Zuchinni CHOCOLATE cake. It is really yummy and no one has to know about the zuch in the recipe (you just have to peel it first). It's a good way to get people to eat your zuchinni.
I have always wondered about canning meat. I know it is safe, but like you said, creepy in concept. In alaska they can smoked salmon.
